Welcome To My Tarot Blog | The Celtic Cross spread is one of my most popular spreads and this is largely because it offers the most comprehensive amount of detail.
The cards we focus in on are, Present, the Cover ( or Obstacle) card, The Base Influences, Recent Past, Above or Imminent Focus, Near Future, Outside Influences , Subconscious Thoughts and Conscious Realisation and, ultimately – the Final Outcome or Final Focus Card. That’s ten cards to inform and advise you and offer insight into your question or, indeed, questions (plural).
In this spread, we can see that the Outside Influence card is Fortune, in The Old English Tarot, or The Wheel of Fortune in more traditional decks.
We might know what this card’s interpretation is, but how do we read it in this position, and, what does it mean in relation to the rest of the spread?
I always say that the Outside Influence card is exactly as it sounds, the influences of those ‘outside’ of your immediate world, or life. In other words, it can be a person or a concept, as here, that may influence what happens in your world and, specifically in relation to your question.
It is also most often read in conjunction with the Near Future card (in this case – The Star).
Here, in this spread, I would tell the client to ‘watch out’ for any fortuitous or fateful meetings with someone that you may not even know, yet. This person or set of circumstances will bring about a chain reaction which will be both lucky and seem pre-destined. (The Star)
With this being an Outside Influence card, these set of fateful circumstances or meetings will then develop accordingly, dependent on how you react to these influences.
Will you take the opportunities offered, or not?
It is not carved in stone when we see this Outside Influence card, it is up to you to forge your own destiny (to some extent, though in this case, yes Destiny will have a hand in what happens next).
The Outside Influence card can also ‘warn’ you of others intentions and actions, which, you can of course, use to your advantage, in relation to your question.
Look out for my next blog posting, where we look at the Subconscious card and its inflences on your reading as a whole.
